Update to 6.1.10 does not work

Post by Cavendish »

Dear Sir and Madam

Update to 6.1.10 is done without running any installation file.
A successful update is reported, although nothing has happened.
The log file reports:
[1180:2718][2024-02-08T11:29:16]i101: Detected package: Prepar3D_v6_Scenery_6.1.10.msp, state: Absent, cached: None
[1180:2718][2024-02-08T11:29:16]i101: Detected package: Prepar3D_v6_Content_6.1.10.msp, state: Absent, cached: None
[1180:2718][2024-02-08T11:29:16]i101: Detected package: Prepar3D_v6_Personal_Core_6.1.10.msp, state: Absent, cached: None

Obviously, the update routine could not find the installation file.

In Package Cache, only the Setup_Prepar3D_v6_Personal_6.1.10.exe was copied into it.
I copied the remaining files (Content, Personal, Scenery). But even now the above absentee message was also found in the log file.

The complete update routine does not work.

Ask for a remedy.

Thank you very much

Yours faithfully

I had a similar issue, I did a reboot and then the patch ran OK.

Thank you, but a simple reboot is not enough to solve my problem.

The Setup_Prepar3D_v6_Personal_6.1.11.exe does not work too. The issue remains.

The same content of the Patch-Log-File:
[0958:0ADC][2024-02-17T11:58:15]i101: Detected package: Prepar3D_v6_Scenery_6.1.11.msp, state: Absent, cached: None

[0958:0ADC][2024-02-17T11:58:15]i101: Detected package: Prepar3D_v6_Personal_Core_6.1.11.msp, state: Absent, cached: None

After starting the Setup_Prepar3D_v6_Personal_6. 1. 11.exe only one second passes and a successful update message appears.
However, no file was copied and Prepar3D still reports version 6. 1. 9.

Hi
Have you tried to run the exe as administrator?

Where is P3D installed? Is it on the c: drive or in another drive? Mine is installed on D:\ but the patch ends up installing in c:\program files.....

Mine ended up in C:\P3D V6 - where it should go.

Thanks for all your answers.

Starting as administrator won't work.
The installation on the right drive by correct reading out the registry is working. I mean: The right path is shown on the installation window.
But the installation app does not find the P3D-datafiles.

Then I copied the installation files into the folder created by P3D in C:\ProgramData\Package Cache, since they were missing.
That didn't work either.
The installation file: Setup_Prepar3D. exe does not find its own data file, does not copy the new program files at all and still reports (incorrectly) a properly completed update process.
The newly started P3Dv6 now still reports its old version number.
This error occurs from the update to version 6.1.10 and was not fixed by version 6.1.11.

Hi Cavendish
Have a look here:
https://prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 21#p272421
Perhaps you can try to give full admin rights at P3D folder.

Hello all,

no solving of my problem with administrator rights and a full network share / release.
This was my first step when the issue occurs.

And now I tried it a second and a third time. But there is no problem with the access of the last P3D-Version on the registered Path of the whole program.

There must be another solution or the "Setup_Prepar3D_v6_Personal_6.1.11.exe" is simply faulty.

A full Update of Windows 10 and the grafics-driver of NVIDIA does not help in the past days.

Hello,

Were any installation files removed from the C drive prior to install? This error may be caused by the currently installed version's package files being removed. You may want to completely remove version 6 from your machine and install again.

Hello,

thank you very much for your advice.
But I deleted the installation files everytime and in the past, every update, also of v6 worked fine, except the last two ones. (Why worked the first update?)

Ok, I can try to solve it by your way...

Hello Rob,

In conclusion, once again my warmest thanks. :-)

The repairing of my Prepar3D-Installation led to the successful working of the 6.1.11-Update.

My Version is now up to date and works fine.

I now hope that the update 6. 1. 10 is included in the update 6. 1. 11 ?
